Correctional Officer Trainee

Individuals wishing to apply for a Correctional Officer Trainee position must complete an electronic Applicant Data Form.

Upon receipt of the Applicant Data Form, applicants will receive information regarding the screening process and documents required. Applicants not receiving this information within six months of the date of application should reapply if still interested in employment with the Illinois Department of Corrections.

Please note: Submitting multiple applications prior to the six month time could delay the scheduling of your application.

Qualifications

  • Illinois Resident
  • 18 years of age
  • Valid driver's license
  • High School Diploma or GED certificate
  • U.S. citizen or authorized alien with proof of a permanent resident card
  • Speak, read, and write English

ALL POSITIONS OTHER than Correctional Officer available at the Illinois Department of Corrections are listed with the Illinois Department of Central Management Services (CMS). These positions include all clerical, management, technical, educational, etc. At this time, CMS does not list State of Illinois positions on the Internet. However, you may visit their website and download a State of Illinois job application and obtain additional information about obtaining employment with the State of Illinois.
