Security designations ensure consistency and standardization
of operations at IDOC's facilities. To effectively monitor
operations from reception to discharge, security designations
offer a step-down program for inmates showing good behavior.
The security designations are designed to ensure continuity of services and
flexibility to appropriately address inmate populations from
reception through parole. The new levels encompass all
three districts statewide.
