Kurt Friedenauer | Deputy Director
Kurt Friedenauer was appointed Deputy Director of the Illinois Department of Corrections Juvenile Division on October 1, 2004. Mr. Friedenauer brings extensive experience to the Department having served as Superintendent for juvenile detention and correctional agencies, Administrator at an adolescent substance abuse treatment facility, and served in an administrative capacity for both juvenile probation and state parole divisions. Mr. Friedenauer is also a sought-after consultant for numerous state agencies providing direction and advice in various juvenile justice-related capacities. Deputy Director Friedenauer’s responsibilities include developing the policies, programs and services designed to manage and monitor the care, custody, reentry and aftercare programs for approximately 1,500 juveniles residing within eight Illinois Youth Centers, as well as 1,800 youth on parole status throughout Illinois.
