Luke Hartigan | Chief of Staff
Luke P. Hartigan was named chief of staff for the Illinois Department of Corrections on Sept. 1, 2011. He had served as chief of Investigations and Intelligence for the agency since 2009.
Hartigan currently is serving in his 27th year of law enforcement, of which 23 years have been with the State of Illinois.
From 2000 to 2004, Hartigan served in the positions of parole agent, investigator and assistant warden of operations with IDOC. He also held positions of chief inspector and senior special agent with the Illinois Department of Revenue and served as commander in the Arson Investigation Division for the Illinois State Fire Marshal’s Office before returning to IDOC in 2009.
Hartigan graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1983 with a bachelor’s degree and completed the Northwestern University Center for Public Safety’s 10-week School of Police Staff and Command Program in 2006.
He is a member of the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police.
